Blog possibly moving

The Rex Files might be moving to a new location. But first, I need your feedback.

Do you find it easier to follow a Blogger blog or a WordPress blog? There has been some debate on the Kindleboards forums, and I am not sure if I should be moving everything to the WordPress or posting Writer Information here and maybe Reader Information there?

What do you guys think?

  1. Personally I like WordPress better. Of course, I have my own url and host the site elsewhere, so that probably makes a difference.

I know the advice is always to keep your blog theme narrow, but I honestly can't see that splitting up my blog into two parts appeals to me. While it's not quite twice as much work, it is more work. That's just my opinion though, worth much less than two cents. :)

  2. Thanks for the comment, Coral. I have already bought the new domain name over there, so I'll probably use it for the next year.

Now, I'm just sort of thinking that I can post interviews with authors about writing here, and post things that would be more interesting to readers over there. For instance, I'm interviewing Moses Siregar about editing and its role in his work. I'm not sure readers would find that as interesting. Writers probably would, though.

  3. Move if you like. I don't get the hype about WP vs Blogger. Blogger you can have a stand alone site as well as a simple upgrade. That's why my site is thetysonadams rather than tysonadams, so that I can upgrade if needs be.

  4. I'm a bit late to this, but I advice keeping to one blog. Readers expect authors to write stuff that will appeal to authors, but that's all fine as long as you can label them "Editing for Writers" and have consistent types of posts, so readers can just skim 'em or go for the posts they're more interested in. Splitting your content into two blogs is more work and limits the visibility of both blogs, and can confuse new visitors. Just my two cents.

Blogger vs. WP... it's a personal decision by the blogger (hey, whichever you work best on), but it doesn't matter from the reader's perspective.

  5. Thanks for the comment, Frida! I already purchased a domain name (rex-jameson.com) for the reader blog, so I'm thinking about experimenting with the format for a year. If it doesn't work out and is confusing, I will get rid of it.
